If you need to update your website on a regular basis, it is sometimes better to do it yourself, using a Content Management System. These give you the flexibility to make changes to products and pages whenever you want to, without having to wait for your developer to do it for you.
But they are not for everyone and you should think carefully, weighing up the pros and cons before proceeding. Or even better talk to someone who can listen to what you need and explain how best to achieve this. For instance all our e-commerce systems come with a CMS facility, it gives you a far greater control of your products and prices. But if you are just changing the occasional bit of text on a page here and there it may actually be cheaper and faster to get your developer to do it for you.
If you just want to be able to add news items to your site, then you don't need a full CMS facility, in fact you would be better off getting a blog.
If you are considering a CMS and want some help deciding what would be best please contact us and we would be glad to help.
